I love the Internet. Seriously. It is the great equalizer. It provides a voice for so many that have not had one.
We used to rely on a few controlled channels to get our news and information. Now, the channels are unlimited. Yes, that can sometimes be a bad thing, but for the most part, I think it's a good thing. It means we get more than just one side of a story.
Case in point: Twitter and Saudi Women
Today I saw two tweets citing two different takes on the same issue. The two takes could not have been more different.
The tweets are pointing to different articles, but about the same issue.
The first tweet links to an article by Frank Watson on Search Engine Watch. The second tweet links to an article by Mark Memmott on NPR.
I'm a long-time student of language and the bias we all display in our word choices. Every one of us looks at the world through our own personal filter. We also report on what we see through this filter.
This is why we need Twitter and other sharing and reporting platforms. It gives all of us a chance to have our voice heard.

I really like your take on social media providing a voice for everyone to air their views. It is amazing how much diversity of thought there is online. Whether you agree with it or not, social media is a force that is changing the world, because now everyone is heard.

Culture necessarily entilas forays into various planes of human existence and means to link up the multiple functions human society is structured to perform and to see why it is so structured. Culture by its very nature is dynamic, multi layered backdrop to all human activities .That it is of primary importance, is evident from the way it is called upon to legitimize any enterprise that people, communities and nations embark upon. There is no palpable fixity to culture, but it has a strong material existence. It is this material rootedness that creates conditions for its perpetuation, growth and decline .A popular culture may seek to highlight the more repressive aspects and impose stereotypes on women .Culture can also be violative of human rights. Culture often confirms the prevalence of social customs imposed on women and patriarchy is a part of the cultural ethos of many societies. If there is anything that threatens the stranglehold of the patriarchal culture, it will be when educated women will step out of the regimens of control which are socially accepted as mandatory acts and fight for their more dignified survival. Education informs women of social conditions and empowers them to talk about their experiences. It enables women to safeguard and educate their offspring with knowledge for self-awareness and self-esteemRanjana BanerjeeCIR Indian Federation of University Women's Associations

Oh my lord! *Spoiler Alerts* for anyone who's not yet seen the trigoly. Now I loved the Godfather trigoly well the first two anyway. But holy fuck. Michael Corleone as the ideal husband? It was Michael in charge by the time they set up the politician to think he'd brutally murdered a prostitute right? Which entailed BRUTALLY MURDERING A PROSTITUTE! It was Michael who utterly ignored his wife and then HIT HER right? He was cold, calculating, ruthless, controlling. It may have been what he had to be in that role, but it is like a DEVASTATING portrayal of a domineering distant but possessive husband absolutely capable of the most coldly brutal violence. And yes, not murdering a prostitute simply as a prop for your revenge scenario? That would be an ideal fucking minimum for a HELLO let alone a marriage. And an ideal husband who smacks his wife around? Fuck me dead!
