There were a lot of cool giveaways at the Mom 2.0 Summit, but there was one giveaway that got the ladies all abuzz. When Kirtsy's Laura Mayes asked who in the room wanted one, every hand in the place shot up into the air.
What was it?
I have to send some extra love to Eye-Fi for being at a mom conference. Most tech companies don't think - "A room full of 30-50 something moms? My God, we'd do anything to get in front of them. Think of the buzz!"
The Eye-Fi Card stores photos & videos like a normal memory card. When you turn your camera on within range of a configured Wi-Fi network, it wirelessly transfers your photos & videos. To your computer. Or to your favorite photo sharing web site. Or both.
How cool is that? Here's why Eye-Fi is going to get sales from their appearance at the Mom 2.0 Summit:
- They had a representative at the event who couldn't have been nicer and the ladies just loved him. He was very approachable and engaged.
- He demonstrated the product in action. My favorite was when he took pictures at the Mardi Gras party, and had his computer hooked up to a projection screen, so almost as soon as he took the pictures, they showed up in a slide show on the wall. Instead of seeing a boring demo, we got to see the product in action.
- Eye-Fi has a website that continues the relationship started at the event. There's a fun video right on the home page that demonstrates what the product is and how it works. It's very female friendly.
So, kudos for Eye-Fi for doing a great job of marketing to women. I hope more technology companies will follow suit.
