Moms - Do You Belive Mattel's CEO?
If you know moms, you know the number one rule with moms:
#1 Rule: "Don't mess with my kids."
To say Mattel has a huge problem on its hands with their recent product recalls would be an understatement. But I believe the true measure of a company is how they handle a crisis. Mattel went the tried and true way of the "personal message from the CEO."
But from the response I've gotten on my Grokdotcom post, the "personal CEO message" may actually have done more harm than good.
Watch the video and judge for yourself. And be sure to read the comments.

I'm from te UK and I think that what's happened to Mattel must of damaged their reputation. This many times just isn't acceptable! I know I think twice when I pick up these toys for my daughter now, but to tell the truth everything is made in china and so potentially subject to the same problems.
I'm not blaming the chinese or anything like that, I just dont think companies should always try to cut costs.
I'm going to get my children reading anyway, I'm trying the www.wealthywisebooks.com program, sounds good anyway!

I can't believe how the company is still selling toys for christmas! I received some bad press myself recently, although no where near as bad as Mattel!
I spent ages using Artemis Pro to try and turn my negative publicity around!

I do think it's a difficult situation. Everyone wants cheaper products and so they are made in china, but it's wrong when quality is affected.
Some things were made in western countries and were profitable, but still moved to foreign production just to make more profit.
I think the major problem is greed.
